I had a VHF 1+ for a while. Pretty basic FM rig with a connector
covered by a cover. The manual and schematic described a SSB
adapter which I was unable to acquire. It put out ~20 Watts at
12.0 Volts (not 13.8) and was rather deaf by today's standards.
It made a reasonable first VHF rig.

Sounds like the "You Will Burn in Hell" posts elsewhere. It does use up
bandwidth. Of course I never check those out. I read about it in Time....
Seriously, roses no longer grow from seeds. Hybrids are grafted onto wild
rose root stock. If you wish to plant a rose bush, you buy it from a
nursery.
If you are looking for Buds, the beer section of any supermarket or
carryout will have a good selection.
This Bud's for you....

The IC-W2A/E was discontinued many months ago. I think it may have been
in January or earlier. I see it is still being offered by some retailers
advertising in QST so I guess they are clearing old stocks. I have an
IC-W2E and it is an excellent rig though I do agree with the comments
about the power connector and intermod on the 430 band when connected to
the main shack antenna.
I am very disappointed with Icom's replacement rig. Whilst I am not a
Yaesu fan (I am still sore after purchasing an FT-757GX 12 years ago!),
I must say that the FT-530 does look the best of handhelds currently
on offer.
